THE MAN WHO POSTED HIMSELF TO AUSTRALIA

In the mid-1960s, Australian athlete Reg Spiers found himself stranded in London (0) C . He really wanted to get back to Australia in time for his daughter's birthday, so (1) .

Built by one of Spiers' friends, the box allowed him to sit up straight-legged, or (2) . The two ends of the box were held in place by wooden pegs that he used to (3) .
