CAT DIALS 999
Police responding to a 999 call from a house in Swansea realised they'd been called (0) by Ginger the cat when they showed up on the doorstep. Retired lecturer Howard Moss, 64, got out of bed at 2.30 a.m. to find two policemen on his doorstep answering an emergency call (1) had been made from his house. As Mr. Moss insisted he’d been asleep since midnight, the officers searched the house and found Ginger sleeping next (2) the phone, which was slightly off the hook. Later, computer checks proved the call had come (3) his home in Swansea.
Mr. Moss said: “One (4) the officers noticed Ginger asleep on the phone table. The phone was off the hook and Ginger had a paw on the phone keyboard. They quickly came to the only possible conclusion: that (5) was Ginger who made the 999 call.” “Ginger didn’t understand (6) all the fuss was about,' Mr. Moss added. “He just jumped down off the table.”
Luckily, South Wales Police had (7) good sense of humour. They confirmed that an emergency call (8) received in the early hours of Tuesday, which turned out to be the result of a family cat sleeping on the phone. A spokesperson added: “It was a purrfect ending for everyone.”
